Natalie Zara SmithIllustration

As a child, Natalie Zara Smith remembers watching her ambidextrous father get tired drawing with one hand, toss the pen to the other and pick up exactly where he left off. His amusing ability and exceptional creativity is what inspired Natalie to pursue her love for art.

Born in Pennsylvania, Natalie is a trained artist with a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology and an MA in Education. She spent many years in Southeast Asia where she found herself greatly inspired by the bright colors of her surroundings.

Whimsical and quirky, Natalie's art is influenced by the many cultures, people, animals and places she encountered traveling. Taken by the physical beauty of microscopic organisms, creatures and stylized body parts, she illustrates them in watercolor, gouache, pastel, colored pencil, acrylic, graphite, and ink.

Natalie's creatures and characters are ideal for toys and games, character development and design, publishing, packaging, and advertising.
